The sera Internal Sponge Filter is a air driven filter that is ideal for utility systems such as quarantine/hospital and breeding/grow-out setups. These filters operate by air drawing in water through the sponges which act as mechanical and biological filtration and up and out of the outflow tube. The elbow at the top allows for directional flow and reduces splashing and bubble noise compared to traditional sponge filters.
NOTE: For display systems we strongly recommend Hang-on-Back, Internal Power Filters or Canister Filters depending on size and bio load.
sera Internal Sponge Filters
Contrary to what sera recommends in terms of aquarium sizes, we recommend the L300 for up to 40 gallons, L150 for up to 20 gallons and the L60 for up to 10 gallons.
Please keep in mind that depending on aquarium size AND bio load you might need more than one filter for optimal filtration. The air pressure also plays a big role in the efficiency of the filter. Weak pressure or air flow will not pull in as much water as high pressure or air flow.
